It had looked like he was intending to write her a lengthy letter but crossed out the top paragraph and left only “I hope you win Catnip, please come home to me alive.” It took Katniss a couple of days until she figured out what he had originally written- but when she did, she regretted it immediately, because all she could feel was guilt. It had said: "I can’t think. All I can see is you kissing him. Telling this boy that you have known just a little while that you love him. Him telling you he’s loved you all his life. But you’re mine. You’re my friend. My hunting partner. My confidant. Mine. Why does he get you? What about me? Where’s my happy ending?"
